Nicole & Cass - A Sweet and Serene Session

Kim and I traveled to Sonoma last week, to photograph the sweetest couple-- Nicole and Cass. They chose the amazing Cornerstone Gardens as the setting for the shoot-- eclectic, modern, interesting, and beautiful-- words that could describe both the gardens and Nicole and Cass.

N: Nicole looked so darn cute in this dress! Kim and I snapped this moment at the same time...
K: These are the first few shots, and this is always the part of the session when the couple is feeling a little silly because they are not quite sure what to expect.
What I love about these shots is Nicole is still feeling a little shy about the whole process, and we used that to our advantage. I love how she cuddles right into Cass for shelter.

One of the many interesting places at Cornerstone is Artifact Design and Salvage-- an absolute treasure trove of goodies! These doors are just the beginning...

N: When we saw these roller coaster cars, we knew we just had to use them!
K: This area was really cool. Nicole and Cass played along with the old time retro look of it all.

N: We pried ourselves away from the salvage place to explore the unique grounds of the gardens.
K: There is nothing cooler than industrial elements in nature. Throw in some human contact and it is magic.

K: KISSES! We love when people kiss.

K: "Oh yea that's my woman." When I posed this shot that is what I told Cass to think. Ha ha ha.

N: One of the greatest things about Nicole and Cass is that they just can't keep their hands off each other! And they look good doin' it!

Next we took over the barn. We love barns!

K: These two are so sweet with each other.

N: I could not get enough of these burlap covered hills. I felt like we were in the desert. An itchy, lint-y desert. Good thing Nicole brought a lint brush!

We had such a beautiful time with Nicole and Cass in these gardens. Sometimes our sessions are a whirlwind of running around, and breaking rules. The experience we had with Nicole and Cass was so calm and peaceful. Walking through these gardens and shooting in all these unique spaces put us in a very Zen state of mind. We loved it. Thank you Cass and Nicole for being the wonderful people you are. We are looking forward to spending your wedding day with you.
Much Love.

Lorianne and Nic - One word - HOT!

Last week, Kim and I had the pleasure of photographing Lorianne and Nic. Not only are they drop-dead gorgeous, and fashion forward, they came ready to play! We asked Lorianne to rock a "Retro Chic" look... and the girl delivered! Armed with lots of clothes, a little champagne, and a fair amount of trust, Lorianne and Nic turned it on and made our job extremely easy. :)

We began our session at Lorianne's family home, in the beautiful barns and surrounding areas.

K: Okay this would be the "Chic" part of the shoot! I mean c'mon.. who looks like that?
Frickin' gorgeous!

N: The glamour! I love Nick's dashing black tie look.

Lorianne and Nic are joined by Mercedes, the pitbull. She was a sweetie pie!

N: The light in this barn was to die for!

K: Um...again... hello gorgeous .

Blarney, the beautiful horse, plays along.

K: Okay we don't want to call Nic out... but from what he told us he does not have a love affair with horses. Crazy what love will make you do. Check him out working the "hanging out with the horses and looking hot" pose!

K: I love this shot because Nic and Lorianne were "having a moment" and Blarney needed to get in on the action! hahah.

N: We moved on to our next location-- a little laundry mat that Kim and I have been eyeballing for awhile. When we arrived it was packed, so we had some fun in the parking lot, making the most of this great wall and beautiful light.

K: I was pretty happy about this wall.... we got lucky that it was right there in the parking lot - just calling to have it's picture taken while we waited for the laundry mat to clear out a bit.
Oh yea... Lorianne and Nic look pretty good there too!

N: Lorianne is rockin' those shorts!
K: Ummm... what about those shoes!

N: I love this! It is such a rock n' roll family portrait!

N: Finally, we take over the laundry mat.
K: Lorianne and Nic were sooo good at playing in this space! They MADE these images.

K: They are soo cute!

Our last stop was a coin-op carwash that Kim recently discovered. The bright blue walls match Lorianne's eyes. :)

N: Might as well wash the car...y'know, since we were there.
K: Oh I felt so bad because we ran out of time and then realized we didn't have anymore coins and they couldn't rinse the car off!! Oh No! They were such great sports about it.
Sacrifices must made for great images.

All I can say is WOW about this session! Not only did we have a ball with Lorianne and Nic... but they were so easy to photograph. They brought so much of their own sence of style and fun to the session. We are so beyond excited to shoot the wedding!
Thanks so much you two for rockin' this session like a couple of pros!! MODELS that is... pro models is what I meant. HAHAHA!

Christina and Brett Get Married!

Last week Kim and I traveled down to the south bay to photograph Christina and Brett-- simply the nicest people ever! We have been looking forward to this day, ever since our stellar engagement session with them in Santa Cruz. We were dodging showers in the days prior, and hoping for sun, so that Christina and Brett could have their ceremony outdoors.

Christina got ready at the Hotel Valencia on Santana Row. We could shoot there All Day Long, and not run out of super cool ideas...

Christina was so beautiful!

N: Yes, the shoes, always the shoes.
K: OHHHH...

K: AHHHH....
K: All her girls were so frickin' cute! They took good care of her. And I LOVED the bridesmaid dresses.... I want to be a bridesmaid!
Always the photographer ... never a bridesmaid, or something like that!

N: I just love taking pictures of people taking pictures.

K: Oh my goodness, Christina smile was luminous!

We took the girls down to the V Bar for these fun shots.
K: Hot, hot, hot... I'm singing.

K: Wow! Look at those stunning women! Love this shot Niki got!

K: ...and this one too!

Then we dashed over to the Silver Creek Valley Country Club, and met up with Brett and his buddies. They were so much fun to hang out with!

K: These guys had great sense of fun... they were joking around from the get go.

Brett gave each groomsman a personalized bat.

The ceremony took place in front of the waterfall. Clouds threatened, and umbrellas were up, but the rain never came!

K: Check out those baby blues! What a cutie.

Mr. and Mrs Lotz, at last!

The money dance was a huge success, and a lot of fun to watch!

This crowd got down to some serious dancing!

Brett and Christina, thanks so much for sharing your big day with us! You had such wonderful people surrounding you all day. Everyone should be so lucky to have the type of friends and family as you. I loved how much your families seemed to not just love each of you.. but each other as well. It was a beautiful thing to see!
We so enjoyed the whole day!

Denise and Kris - So Much Fun!

Kim and I had the pleasure of photographing Denise and Kris last week. We had a last minute change of plans, and started our shoot in Crissy Field. Kim and I have been wanting to take a couple there for some time, and Denise and Kris trusted us.

N: As you can see, we just love photographing pretty people in ugly places. :)

N: Denise told us they has some reservations about being photographed, but both Denise and Kris are naturals!
K: I can't believe they were nervous! They were so good in front of the camera right off the bat!

K: Gotta love the booty shot...helps when she has such a cute booty.

K: Denise was a little worried when we said we were going to go to Crissy Field. She didn't want the same old boring shot of the Golden Gate in the backround.... I reasurred her we would there was much cooler spots.

N: I think Kris really enjoyed this set up. ;)
K: I think Denise did too!

We headed out to Ocean Beach, where Kris proposed to Denise. This photo was taken in the stairway of the Beach Chalet. The light was incredible!

K: There were people walking up and down the stairs right here where we were shooting and I love their focus... a little giggling is allowed!

We crossed the street and headed out to the beach. It was colder than cold, but Denise and Kris were really great at looking hot!

K: I think at this point they were just giddy from the cold... (or maybe it was the Bloody Marys we had at The Beach Chalet!)

We had so much fun with Kris and Denise. They were nervous because as Denise said "We are just not good at posing for the camera".. but what I loved is they didn't really have to pose! They were so natural and honest in the way they photographed. I love the connection the two of them have. Just loving, and funny, and warm.
Hey Denise and Kris we loved photographing the two of you! You are going to make our jobs easy on your wedding day!
We can't wit!

Kelly and Aaron - Picture Perfect!

Kim and I had the pleasure of photographing Kelly and Aaron in the Presidio last week, and boy did they make our job easy! They came ready to play, and every shot felt like something straight out of a catalog! Kelly and Aaron-- if your day jobs don't work out, there's always modeling!

N:I wish you could see what Kelly had to do to get up in that ladder!
K: Oh Man I felt so bad! We thought this spot would be so fun to shoot... but getting in there was just about impossible! Kelly was game and twisted and turned and got her cute little self in there!

K: We asked Kelly and Aaron what they would call each other if they were super heros... we introduce superman and wonder woman. I think the names were perfect for them.

K: All I could think during these shots was "so cute, so cute so cute"!

We just loved this grafitti mural, painted on the side of a truck in the parking lot.

N:We moved to the grass and trees and Kelly and Aaron turned up the heat!
K: My so cutes turned to "so hots".

N: I love Kelly in this purple dress, especially against the red bricks!

K: Hello butterfly on the booty! I looved that dress!

N:Make no mistake-- it looks like a golden afternoon at the beach, but it was pretty darn cold! Kelly was a great sport, goosebumps and all!
K: ... and WINDY! The sand was flying.

Kelly and Aaron, thanks so much for an amazing session! It was so much fun, and we are really excited about your incredible wedding plans!
